This lot comprises 1344 acres (544ha) of freehold land which makes up a large percentage of the freehold land on the Shark Bay peninsula. The land is zoned special use number 5 as part of planning scheme number 4. Included in the sale price is a lease of 400.6ha of ocean space of the pristine waters of Nanga Bay which may be transferred to a buyer for the purpose of an aquaculture facility. The term of the lease is 21 years with the opportunity for a further option to lease for another 21 years.
Permission has been granted for a pipeline to draw water from the pristine waters of Nanga Bay for the purpose of carrying out on shore aquaculture pursuits. The lease has been granted under section 4 of the aquaculture lease in accordance with the deed. Full details of the lease and aquaculture licence are on hand as is the agreement for the easement over the foreshore reserve. Freehold land can be seen on the TPG brochure under the zoning has a multitude of uses that can be carried out on the property under the scheme number 4 that is currently under the consideration by the W.A.P.C before being forwarded on to the minister of planning, lands and heritage for final approval. The shire of Shark Bay is supportive of the proposal.
A final decision is expected in February 2018. Due to the central location being on the west coast of Western Australia in an area that has been well known for decades as a major prawn, scallop, snapper fishery and tourism the potential along with the aquaculture development makes this site one of the most exciting projects I have seen.
