The property has a colourful past and is of historical significance, having been built for the grand daughter of William Mitchell who arrived at the Swan River colony in 1838 and become its first Anglican Rector, Chaplain and Archdeacon. William Mitchell's descendants are spread throughout Western Australia and many still reside within the Shire of Plantagenet.

The house features wide bull-nose verandah on three sides. High ceilings throughout the original building with pressed tin ceilings and polished jarrah floor boards to some rooms.

There are two good size bedrooms with a smaller single bedroom/study. The cosy lounge has been restored to reflect the period with its open fireplace and jarrah surrounds being a feature.

The large open kitchen, dining has a polished jarrah floor, an original open fireplace with a tile fire in situ. The kitchen is nice and bright with light from a large window above the sink that looks out over a lovely garden. It has a built in stove with hot plate, oven and range-hood. There is a breakfast bar and good size walk in pantry. Beyond the kitchen is a nice sized entry/utility area which has a modern bathroom off one end and the third bedroom/study at the other. It also has a good size computer nook.

The laundry is roomy and an area alongside makes an ideal place to sit and read whilst enjoying the morning sun streaming through the windows.

At the rear of the house is a recently added deck area, a nice place to sit and relax, whilst there is also a lovely shaded BBQ area to the side with access to the kitchen.
