Last Listing description (July 2019)

An exciting opportunity to purchase The Bar General', located in the heart of the Pilbara.
The Marble Bar lifestyle is truly unique. You have the benefit of town living with services and facilities, and on the flip side the real outback and isolation - fantastic!
The owner, Lang Coppin, purchased the property in July 2017. At the time the shop was not operating and the building was quite run down. Lang spent the next 12 months renovating and repairing - he installed a new 33kVa backup generator, a bore, re-painted inside and out, new refrigeration, new signage, renovated and relocated the 40ft freezer/coolroom container (with new units), renovated the cottage, new shelving, the list goes on He then reopened in July 2018.

The main customers are tourist, locals, road works crew, independent contractors and people involved in the mining industry. There has been recent investment in gold at Marble Bar, in particular Novo Resources and Calidus who are both in the exploration stage.
When I went up there to list the business I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the property and I could easily see how much work Lang had put in to the building to make it a well presented, easy to run business. I even took home FRESHLY BAKED hot cross buns! Lang has invested in a fully automatic proving machine and baking oven to provide Marble Bar residents with freshly baked bread daily!
His staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and they open the shop 6 days a week (8-12pm on Saturdays). The Bar General is predominantly run by staff, with Lang assisting periodically.
The Bar General business consists of 2 freehold titles on 3019m2, 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage, Post Office and the general store which sells everything from white goods, fishing and camping gear, general groceries, stationary and bread.
Marble Bar was established in 1893 following the discovery of gold. It is a popular tourist destinationvisitors come to see the unique heritage government buildings, the Ironclad Hotel, Chinaman's Pool (and the famous jasper bar), Corunna Downs Airfield, Comet Gold Mine just to name a few. The Marble Bar Races have been held in July since 1893, where crowds of between 2000-3000 descend on to Marble Bar.
The Bar General poses a fantastic opportunity for a couple looking to run their own business in the most unique part of WA. It is a genuine sale and will be sold as a going concern - a list of equipment is included in the sale price.
Lang also has the Travellers Rest Roadhouse' for sale. Both businesses would work exceptionally well together. If a buyer wishes to purchase both, a discount price will be considered.
