ROCK OF AGES
The Rock of Ages was built in 1857 by John Patience, the 2nd registered convict into WA. John died some time later and his widow married into the Harrison family. The cottage remained in the family for the next 100 years. In 1978 it was sold and the new owner began the slow and painstaking task of a full restoration. The Rock of Ages opened as a Bed & Breakfast to the public in 1994. In 1998 the Shire Presidents Heritage Award was given to Rock of Ages Cottage. This Award Recognises Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Restoration and Conservation of Heritage Buildings within the Shire of Greenough .
The property was sold to the current owners in 2008 and to this day is still currently being enjoyed by many travellers as the preferred place to stay in the Geraldton/Greenough region. A testimony to this fact is the amount of repeat bookings and referrals from satisfied customers.

The guest facilities consists of 2 double bedrooms and 1 single, bathroom with shower vanity and wc, dining area with kitchenette, lounge with tv and fireplace. All the floors in the bedrooms and living areas are polished timber. There is also a detached studio which houses a double bed plus single with trundle and a bathroom with shower, WC and vanity. For guests wishing to relax in the outdoor area there is a garden gazebo with heated bubbling spa. There are also numerous outdoor seating areas within the sweeping verandas to enjoy within the gardens and around the fishpond. For those wishing to stretch their legs after a long journey there is the Pioneer Museum directly opposite which houses a comprehensive display of colonial antiques. If that's not enough then there are numerous trails along the Greenough River which go for as far as you can walk.
The owner's living area has a large dining/lounge room with a beautiful pine kitchen, slate floor, reverse cycle air conditioning, lead light windows, French doors, timber cathedral ceilings and stone walls. The private bathroom has been fully renovated and features a claw foot bath, shower and vanity.
The property is serviced by mains water and rainwater. The guest section is solely rainwater and the remainder is a combination of both. There is 2 x 12,000 gallon, 2x 15,000

It is also situated in the hub of the Greenough tourist area which includes the Greenough Wildlife Park, The Hampton Arms, Bentwood Olive Grove, The Central Greenough Historic Settlement, The Greenough Woodworks Gallery but to name a few.
Rock of Ages is currently run as a Bed & Breakfast and is ideally suited to this venture. Entirely your choice, but one thing is for certain, either way you are onto a winner.
