ROCK OF AGES
The Rock of Ages was built in 1857 by John Patience, the 2nd registered convict into WA. John died some time later and his widow married into the Harrison family. The cottage remained in the family for the next 100 years. In 1978 it was sold and the new owner began the slow and painstaking task of a full restoration. The Rock of Ages opened as a Bed & Breakfast to the public in 1994. In 1998 the Shire Presidents Heritage Award was given to Rock of Ages Cottage. This Award Recognises Excellence and Outstanding Contribution to Restoration and Conservation of Heritage Buildings within the Shire of Greenough .
The property was sold to the current owners in 2008 and to this day is still currently being enjoyed by many travellers as the preferred place to stay in the Geraldton/Greenough region. A testimony to this fact is the amount of repeat bookings and referrals from satisfied customers.
