Last Listing description (September 2018)

Glen Iris - Built circa 1897 and situated on a large block that was originally owned by James Morrison (whom Morrison Road is named for), this stunning federation style home is ideal for those wanting their very own piece of local history. Featuring high ceilings, an original fireplace, Jarrah floors, ornate cornices, and heritage archways, this home is a snapshot of life in the 1800s, while also having been carefully renovated to make it an ideal modern family home. The master bedroom is enormous, and includes a feature fireplace, built in storage, and an ensuite. The perfectly-appointed kitchen, large living areas, and wrap-around verandah are ideal for family living.
The large grounds feature beautiful established gardens, picket fences, and a below-ground salt water pool with entertaining area. If you're a commuter, just leave the cars under the carport and take an easy stroll to the nearby bus stop. Perched on the edge of Greenmount National Park, and mere minutes to Midland central, you won't find a more immaculately presented and perfectly located home.
The property that is now Glen Iris, initially came to the attention of the first settlers in 1829, within months of when Western Australia was colonised.

Explorer Robert Dale, on instructions from the first Governor of Western Australia, James Stirling, was asked to seek out promising farming country, and it was just 7 miles away from Governor Stirling's Woodbridge Estate, that Greenmount and Helena Valley were identified as such.
The property, at the time being some 341 acres, was originally known as Swan Location 16 and adjoined the eastern boundary of Governor Stirling's Woodbridge Estate. It was on this property near what is now the Innamincka roadside, where the first settlers camped under a great Redgum tree in 1831 on an expedition to York.
In 1897, James Morrison of Guildford Stock and Station took possession of the Swan Location 16 farming land. Mr Morrison had arrived in Western Australia from Melbourne, and it is understood that it is he whom named the house Glen Iris.
