Last Listing description (October 2023)

A pristine bush block of approximately 65ha, perched on the northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range with views across.

A granite ridge line runs parallel with the road frontage and the land drops sharply away to the west. The property is heavily treed, with a few small clearings.

There are several walking tracks through the property. Access is via an all-weather bitumen road.

The township of Tallarook sits on the northern slopes of the Great Dividing Range, on land that was once central to the territories of the Goulburn Aboriginal tribes, in whose language, Tallarook means 'call of the wattle birds'. Today Tallarook supports abundant wildlife and farming properties. The local vineyards are gaining an international reputation and provide the perfect place to unwind and explore.

17km (17mins) to Broadford; 31km (29mins) to Kilmore, 104km (81mins) to Melbourne.

Red Stringybark and Bluegum dominate the top of the slope and transitions into more Messmate/Bluegum further down. The lower slopes have high shrub cover, with Burgan, Silver Wattle, Blackwood and Lightwood, whilst the upper slopes are much more open and grassy. The groundlayer has high diversity, with many grasses (Rytidosperma, Anthosachne, Microlaena, Dianella), herbs (Viola, Xerochrysum, Cymbonotus) and mosses growing abundantly.

Towards the middle of the property, there is mostly Long-leaf Box and Blue Gum, with quite open spaces and a reduced canopy cover. The understorey is present more strongly in the more open spaces around the trees, with Senecio, Rock Fern, and Wallaby Grass. Sweet Vernal Grass is the main weed that is present throughout this area.

Please note that a Trust for Nature conservation covenant will be placed on the property title.
