HISTORY ABOUNDS AT ENNIS ROAD TALLAROOK - RUSTIC INNER COUNTRY GETAWAY, A MOVIE SET & WILD MAN OF TALLAROOK CAVE

A rustic inner country getaway property like no other at Tallarook.

The property just 4.3kms along the bitumen Ennis Road east from the Hume Freeway and about an hour north of the city.

Part of the property forms a steep embankment of large granite boulders and therein is a cave where local known as the Wildman of Tallarook' is said to have lived during the late 1800s. Records show he was arrested in 1880 while living a hunter-gatherer outdoor life from this location.

The large rock cave is still accessible, and it has attracted scientific and historic interest.

Historically the property has been a staging set for Australian feature films like The Man from Snowy River and the Ned Kelly the Last Outlaw films, while several television productions have been filmed on the site.

The property has a unique landform with its collection of massive granite boulders adjoined by about one third of the 18 hectares being level grassy timbered parkland reached off the long road frontage of approx. 466 metres to Ennis Road.

The section of steep granite escarpment falls almost 100 metres to the valley floor giving a striking exposure to the nearby Dabyminga Creek valley and across to the country around Broadford to the west and spectacular sunsets.

"This is really a rustic weekend visit type of property, maybe an artist's retreat, or to brew a cuppa and experience the unlimited fresh air, to observe the wildlife and just a place to get away from all the city cares".

"Properties of this type are rare within such an easy reach of town via the Hume Freeway, with nearby Tallarook village with its services of pub, caf, store, railway station and monthly farmer's market."
