Newmerella overlooks the historic town of Orbost in East Gippsland, Victoria. It's only around a forty-minute drive to the tourist hotspot of Lakes Entrance for Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets and around one hours' drive to Bairnsdale, the business centre of East Gippsland. There is a V/Line Bus from Orbost to Bairnsdale which connects to the V/line train service to Melbourne. The V/line Bus also travels from Orbost to Canberra, with connections to Sydney.
