Last Listing description (January 2012)

Unique and tranquil. All the wonders that semi-rural living offers just minutes from central Bendigo.
I love our home. Falling asleep with a view of the stars, listening to the rain fall on the roof, being roused in the morn by sugar gliders returning to their nests. Peering from the second story window at the creek and the rural countryside which surrounds us, in the morn the house is toasty warm from the Coonara. Laying in the willow shade on the dam jetty watching the kids swim or fish. Listening to the birds and cicadas. The peacefulness. The absence of city bustle but close enough to have pizza delivered. How the kids cross the road and they are trail riding in the bush. How nobody can build across the road from us. Looking out over the creek at the grapevines. How in 23 years we've had to do very little maintenance. How our house is very different to most suburban dwellings. Drinking rain water from our 21 thousand gallon water tanks. So many things to love about our place.
Situated in beautiful, rural Mandurang Valley, 8 minutes from Bendigo CBD, 20 minutes from Lake Eppalock, 90 mins from Melbourne CBD, on the Melbourne side of Bendigo providing easy access to Calder Freeway.

Built on just under 2 acres, once market gardens, in a developing area, the house looks out on State Forest and slopes down to the meandering Sheepwash Creek. Every tree was planted by us. The area is great for bushwalking and bike riding.
Two story Western Red Cedar board and batten with Oregon and Pine interior requires no maintenance. The post and beam construction with no weight bearing walls allows for easy extension. Designed to be energy efficient and warmed by a Coonara wood heater and cooled in summer by the split system air conditioner downstairs or the evaporative cooler upstairs.
Our house has hosted many happy family times including a wedding. Many windows provide stunning views of the surrounding bush and countryside including the Velux window in the study. Of open style and the illusion of openness is further enhanced by the void area which looks down on the family area from above and master bedroom.
The beautiful one mega litre dam is where we swim and home to duck families, is stocked with fish and hosts abundant birdlife. We even have our own resident sugar gliders.
Semi-enclosed outdoor area has bbq, bar fridge and ceiling fan. Shed 8x4m is concreted with power. Garden has a sprinkler system supported by our 3.1 mega litre water right. Our home has all the conveniences of suburbia with garbage/recycling, mail and school bus service. Fully furnished is an option.
Additional feature/s - bath.
