NOTE
There is now a separate studio at an extra costs, with another bed, bathroom, living/dining. In keeping with original HOUSE.
This house was originally the home of the poet E.J.Brady's son Hugh, with timbers salvaged from the S.S. Riverina. The boat sank off Mallacoota in the early part of last century. The Riverina was a steel steamship of 4758 tons.
Blown ashore in a squall and eventually wrecked near Tullaberga Island, west of Gabo Island on 17.4.1927. All passengers landed safely and walked the 13 km to Mallacoota.
Several attempts were made to salvage the vessel, but in vain. The wrecked boat was a great tourist attraction for many years and could be boarded in good weather, but during WW2 she and the Easby in Gabo Harbour were used as target practice by the R.A.A.F. with the inevitable result that very little remains today apart from the bow and stern posts which are visible at low tide.
