Waikato pulsators installed in 2010. Milk Rite light weight triangular individual vented liners and shells with Waikato high flow low weight clusters installed 2016. Waikato vacuum pump, variable speed blower installed 2017. Davisway centrifugal milk pump installed 2017. 2008 Davisway Plate cooler installed. New hot water service installed 2018 for vat. Fullwood auto wash for plant. AI race holds 20 cows and also a crush and another race for stock work. The dairy yard is effectively cleaned via 4 yard blasters and also hoses for other areas. A 60 KVA backup generator has been installed.
There are 3 sheds used as calf rearing facilities one includes a Holm and Laue automatic calf feeder which is able to rear approximately 120 calves. The feeder can run on whole milk or powdered milk. There is access to bore and rainwater for these sheds. The sheds are then used for equipment and storage out of calving season. There is a vat for calf milk for the auto calf feeder.
There are a couple of other sheds used for workshop and equipment. Effective and easy flow Timber Cattleyards.

WATER:
The farm uses reticulated bore water. 2 bores equipped, one submersible and one jet pump at the dairy and three equipped mills in paddocks. One of the bores can run a fire pump off it (linked to the dairy).
There are two effluent ponds near the dairy.
Rainwater is provided for the house, parts of the dairy and calf shed. There are plenty of tanks (38,000 gallons) to provide adequate supply throughout the year. Water softener at dairy. There is a 29 Meg water wash down license.
PADDOCKS:
The farm occupies both sides of Glengleeson West Road which is accessed by several points and also with an underpass. Subdivided into approximately 54 paddocks with 7 smaller paddocks around the yards. Tracks and laneways have been developed and maintained for ease of use and convenience with the underpass linking the property on both sides of Glengleeson West Road.
Native tree plantations are planted regularly with a variety of gums and acacias for shelter and windbreaks.
FENCING:
The internal fencing is predominantly single electric wire whilst the boundary fences are conventional fences with an electric wire. Calf paddocks have more substantial fencing.
PASTURES:
Mostly perennial rye grass based. Hay and silage is made on the farm. Occasionally extra hay is bought but usually it is a self-sufficient farm. Grain is purchased.
FERTILISER:
Glen Rises has always had fertiliser spread as well as Urea to increase the Olsen P and productivity of the property. Fertiliser history available upon request. Soil tests are available upon request, with Olsen P ranging between 15 35 mg/kg.
RAINFALL:

SOIL TYPE:
Majority of sandy grey loams soil types with heavier black loams on Eumeralla River flats (approximately 23 Ha)
CONTOUR:
Versatile gently undulating topography with Eumeralla River flats.
STOCK: 235 Friesian, Jersey and cross bred cows (usually run approximately 275 cows annually). Cows are AI d with Friesian and Jersey semen with the intention of calving beginning in the first week of April. Cows AI ing is done for 7 weeks and then Angus bulls are turned out with them, whilst heifers are done for 4 days and then an Angus bull is turned out with them. The (New Zealand based genetics LIC) AI bred herd is in good condition and management has developed a tight calving pattern. Cows are fed with silage, hay and grain depending on the time of the year and the season through a low input system. Cows are kept in good condition throughout the year to encourage lactation and conception. Cows are fed in the bail approximately 1.75t/cow.
Usually, the farm is capable of running 280 cows, as well as raising approximately 120 heifer calves and 90-120 heifers. It has been a closed herd for a number of years now reducing the risk of disease etc.
