Ivydown one of Camperdown's most prestigious homes, was built in 1903 for a local accountant by Turner Fewtrell, a long established local builder, and is in a style which is otherwise well represented in other timber houses created by Fewtrell in the 1890s. Renowned architectural, historian and conservation architect , Allan Willingham describes the design as a fusion of Late Victorian Italianate imagery and more fashionable elements from the Federation Queen Anne mode, using elaborately patterned cast iron columns, friezes and brackets to the wide, encircling bullnose profile verandah and Italianate timber eaves brackets as the principal decorative elements. The 7 tall red chimneys with moulded brick copings and Dutch roof gables belie the influence of contemporary Queen Anne architecture.
as does the vertical timber strapwork to the twin gables over the broad bay windows on the east elevation and shutters on the northern side. The residence is a distinct example of Late Victorian Italianate style architecture in the area, being of impressive scale and picturesquely situated in a mature landscaped garden.
As you ascend the slate steps you are welcomed by the magnificent entrance hall with stained glass door and floodlights, pillared archway and high ceilings. A U shaped hallway provides access to the large drawing room, sitting room, plus the formal dining room as well as the spacious country style kitchen and six bedrooms.

The beautiful rambling gardens offer both privacy and screening from passers-by and has several peaceful areas to enjoy that favourite book, whilst also giving superb panoramic views to the North from the veranda while enjoying breakfast or morning tea.
The current owners have spent the last thirteen years lovingly restoring Ivydown to it's former glory and now offer the lucky purchaser the fruits of their labour of love.
