The Property History for the History buffs.

A magnificent example of federation architecture fused with a modern lifestyle; 'Bethanga Park' homestead showcases all the hallmarks of yesteryear with today's conveniences.
The history of this landmark property began in the 1800s when Scottish builder David Mitchell purchased the property to add to his already impressive portfolio.
A regular visitor to the property was his daughter Helen Porter Mitchell, or Nellie Melba, later Dame Nellie Melba.
Mitchell sold the property to Albert Edward Bowman who built a grand two-storey residence on the banks of the Mitta Mitta River, but with the announcement of the building of the Hume Dam, the decision was made to demolish the house and build on higher ground, as a single storey residence, being completed in the 1920s, before Lake Hume inundated the farming land.
