Humble Street is one of the top five streets to live in Barwon Heads. As it happens, the word 'humble' has its roots in the Latin word 'humus' meaning ground, soil, earth. It's fitting, for here is great ground.

Number 2, Humble Street is only a few hundred metres from the boutiques and cafes of Barwon Heads' village. (It's one of those locations that deserves the 'satellite' view on Google Maps.) It is equidistant to the river and not much further to the primary school, the surf beach and the bluff reserve. The Barwon Heads Golf Course is a mere chip across the road. However, ask even Barwon Heads' residents about Humble Street and it's possible they've not heard of it. The reason is because the street is a ninety metre long cul-de-sac and is tucked away in one of the most exclusive and quietest areas of old Barwon Heads. About the only noise you will hear is that of the ocean. If you value your privacy yet still want to be near the centre of town, this is the street for you.
And if you are a romantic with a penchant for classic beach house style, this is also the house for you. It has an element of being humble itself - in a quiet, unassuming way. If you like sunlight streaming though floor to ceiling windows, characterful timber boards and a floor plan ready for happy family living (and holidaying) then you must come and inspect. The three bedrooms, one bathroom and open-plan kitchen, dining and living area are simple but remarkably appealing.
The home has been recently restumped and is readied for some cosmetic updates - should you wish undertake them. There is tremendous potential to increase the home's floor space (due to the size of the block) (STCA) and to modernise the open-plan living area. However, there is no rush: the three bedrooms (one with built in robes), central bathroom, laundry (with external access) and air-conditioned living area are 100% liveable and practical - the extent, type and style of any modernisation or redesign is up to you and can be done at your own pace.
The outside of the home is of similar character: delightfully humble. It will be open to your ideas and willing to cater to them. Where the greatest potential lies is perhaps the north-facing rear of the home (the open-plan area).
There is currently a paved patio for outdoor lounging and barbecuing but it has the potential for significantly more: it's just up to your imagination. Further beyond the paving and up a very gradual sloped lawn (far more interesting than a dull, level, rectangle!..) is a double garage/shed and access to a rear right-of-way. It's one of those rare rear access ways that is semi-grassed rather than paved. Another beach house delight.
If you prefer to modernise more structurally there is always this option. (STCA). Take a look at some of the other properties in this area and you'll see you won't be the first to have this idea. It's a dream location so perhaps it deserves your dream home. From humble beginnings come great things.
