Here is a genuine bush block which is being conserved in its native state to protect the native bushland, flora and fauna on the island. The block is readily accessible along the East Wickham Road with frontage to Youngs Road in the north east of the island. The block has an area of over 200 hectares or 500 acres and subject to the appropriate approvals, is well suited to residential development with the benefit of the properties natural resources, including a large area of perennial swamp and a ground water supply. This was affected by wild fire, the latest in 2012, but has recovered since that time with eucalypt and native species regrowth. At this time there is no permit to clear the land and it is unlikely that any further clearing of bushland on the island will be permitted. The land adjoins Parks and Wildlife Reserve land to the east and forms a large conservation area in the north east coast of the island.
