It is with a heavy heart that this compelling property rich in history is being offered for sale for the first time in nearly 200 years.

Situated only 25 minutes approx. from Hobart's CBD in the thriving township of Richmond, you will find not only Australia's oldest bridge but also the nation's earliest still operating Catholic Church "St. Johns" circa 1835-1837.

The original part of this house was built circa 1823 from timber by convict labour as a site building for the construction of the Richmond bridge built 1823-1825.

Subsequently having been granted the property sometime between 1825 and 1839, the main part of this house we believe was constructed in 1841 by a convict who had worked on the bridge.

The property was then transferred by assent to the Hewitt family of New Town who then owned the property until 1955 when it was then assented to Ellen (Nance) Woolford and then assented to Edgar (Ted) Woolford (now deceased) following the death of his mother.

This property, which is currently in need of extensive renovation, offers potential buyers the privilege of restoring the home to its former glory, and to also put their own touches in place.
