An Icon in the heart of Richmond
Circa 1831, the Georgian property known as Ma Foosies, offers magnificent heritage, featuring original flooring, ceilings and doorways. The versatile property could provide more income from the numerous accesses. Many a memorable meal has been consumed and enjoyed whilst visiting the highlights of the area, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner or just simply, a snack. Enjoy your meal in either the alfresco or indoor areas. The property also has a private self-contained area with an ensuite (see plan), deck, carport which will fit two cars and a private courtyard, having its own front and rear entrance enabling the new owners to reside there or even expand the restaurant. Set on 0.1126 hectares creating ample spacious room at the rear of the property for off street parking, or enabling it to be made into another Alfresco dining area. The commercial kitchen will satisfy the most ardent chefs with all equipment necessary to be adequately operational with 3 phase power. There is ample storage in the underneath cellar which houses the central ducted heating. The property is also ideal to convert to family living, if desired.HistoryThe cottage was built in 1831 by the Richmond police clerk, William Jarritt. It was the original Bridge Inn until 1836. By the early 1840's a shop frontage had been added with a door on either end of the verandah leading to separate shops. It has been a bakery, butchers, tailors and doctor's surgery. Stores were kept in the cellar with access through the trapdoor in the restaurant. It remained a residence through most of the last century until bought in 1980. It was restored and opened as tearooms in 1982 and in 2004, extra seating was added and in 2007, evening meals were introduced.
