MILFORD
Homestead
The historic sandstone 8 bedroom homestead "Milford" has been carefully and tastefully refurbished over recent years. The house was originally a 2-bedroom settlers' cottage built in 1816 which has been progressively extended with multiple, sympathetic additions, all in sandstone and respecting the original form of Milford.
An elegant Victorian-style veranda was added in the late 19th century which complements the symmetrical formal faade of Milford. This is a classic, heritage property whose successive additions are a fine complement to the original structure and has enhanced the layering of historic changes in ownership and function.
The interiors reflect the various additions to the original structure with rooms featuring high moulded skirtings, mantles, cornices and pressed metal (TIN) ceilings, cellar, original window shutters and multi-pane windows overlooking the gardens to Mount Wellington. The original timber floors exude a warmth which continues throughout the house.
There are remnants of the early plantings in the surrounding gardens, including a palm and deciduous English oaks.
Milford would be ideally suited for many pastoral, tourist and farming pursuits.

The stable is a substantial supporting curtilage to the Milford estate.
