. The Pines is a secluded picturesque coastal fishing township of around 200 homes, located between Pt Turton & Corny Point on the beautiful Yorke Peninsula. The township is protected by a substantial rock wall with five main stair access points along the esplanade (Sheoak Rd.) and a concrete boat ramp. It is flanked by Collins beach and Couch beach and a short walk to Levens beach and Levens conservation park. A walking track meanders along the shoreline for the length of the town. The Leven Beach Conservation Park is located in the locality's northeast corner. The town has a well-equipped children's playground, a well-appointed community hall, public toilets and a general store that sells takeaway food, general food goods, fuel, LPG and ice. The town is shrouded by a 30 KPH speed limit, making it much safer for children moving around the town.
The community hall has a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, pool table, darts, large screen TV and is open each Friday evening for "Happy Hour" where locals and visitors can "socialize". The hall has many social activities, including weekly darts and eight ball competitions, holiday weekend events, fishing competition etc.
The local community committee have accomplished many improvements to the township through fundraising & government grants. Just recently the boat trailer carpark has been upgraded & a foreshore seating area & beach access installed.
Boats can be launched most of the day with a tractor & on high tide with a car or four-wheel drive and because The Pines is one of only a few North facing beach towns in South Australia many more fishing days can be enjoyed.
82 Sheoak Rd. is located between stairway access 4 & 5 so within a couple minutes you can be walking on the sandy beach. Stairway access 5 takes you onto Couch beach. King George Whiting are plentiful in these waters & can be caught from shore without a boat. * The Pines has now become a part of "Marna Banggara" formerly known as "The Great Southern Ark" which is an ambitious project to re-wild the foot of the Yorke Peninsula. A 25 KM fence has been erected to effectively seal off the foot from feral predators like foxes & cats. Introduction of endangered marsupials has now begun in this world first conservation project. This property will appeal to many.
Take your pick from several world class surf breaks in the area. A great place to fish and catch King George Whiting, Snapper or Crayfish. This friendly seaside community is an excellent spot to make that sea change you have been waiting for with exceptional fishing spots. This location is ideal for holiday makers who enjoy a quiet break. There are many enjoyable activities such as swimming, fishing, boating and snorkelling.
The Pines is ideally situated for a visit to Innes National Park, which is only a 40-minute drive away along a sealed road. Innes National Park is a must-visit attraction, with kilometres of spectacular coastline and is great for those who enjoy wildlife, walking trails and surfing. The Pines is approximately a 3-hour drive from Adelaide
