Mawson Lakes is a relatively new residential suburb with the first land being released in 1998 and named in honor of Sir Douglas Mawson. The suburb is located in the northern suburbs of Adelaide around 12 km north of the Central business district. Much of the suburb was previously known as The Levels. It includes Technology Park, the Mawson Lakes campus of the University of South Australia, Endeavour College, as well as growing residential and commercial zones. It also contains the public transport hub Mawson Interchange , which is expected to become one of the five busiest stations in Adelaide.
