History, charm and character - it's all here! If only the walls could talk, what stories would they tell?
Ambient and unique in every sense this cottage is a 'Love at first sight' kind of home. Solid stone walls, quirky features and windows that embrace peaceful garden views await you here. Lovingly upgraded, many aspects of the restoration have been focused around preserving its original and historical significance.
The cottage was built in 1847 by the founding father of Gumeracha, William Beavis Randell, as two semi-detached dwellings. It was occupied by his two sons William Richard Randell and John Beavis. William was the first pioneer of the River Murray & built the first paddle steamer to grace the River Murray, which he named after his mother 'Mary-Ann'. John also resided here until his death in 1876.

Today, it is a bespoke home offering warmth and welcome. Retreat to the upstairs guest room with its garden view or enjoy the master suite with access to an impressive modern bathroom. Be it sunroom or snug there is something lovely about every space here. A classic country styled kitchen, formal dining or north facing living - it's all here.
Alluring gardens will have you wandering its paths, inhaling sweet scent along the way whilst admiring the colorful hues. Divided into rooms there is something of interest at every corner. A flower draped arch here, a garden arbor there. Soothing sounds from trickling fountains or the view across to Kenton Hill will entrance and relax.

A little history.....
William Beavis Randell worked for the South Australian Company and was one of the earliest pioneers to the state, arriving with his family in South Australia from Devon, in the late 1830's. He was granted land in the area and was the founding father of Gumeracha, laying out the town and building a lot of the early buildings including the flour Mill and this cottage. He is buried in the local cemetery.
