Tourists flock to this OPAL town in the tourist season mainly between March and October. They are attracted to this small outback town for many reasons.
The fossicking area has had a new opal mine given to the Public for fossicking. Many have found unique stones worth cutting out of the matrix and crystal opal rocks. They can then have them cut, polished and set or left as a specimen.
Another attraction for tourists to call Yowah the destination year after year is the Hot Artesian Water. The town now has a public spa baths that is much sought after a long car trip. Muscle aches and bones are soothed with this unique water.
Yowah has hosted its Annual Opal Festival for over 20 years and attracts opal buyers as well as people that want to check out large amounts of opal from all over the world in one place! Band and festivities over 3 nights and days.
Also the friendly feel of the town and zero crime rate makes this a harmonious destination.
The birdwatchers group come to this small part of the world to see species that are rare and only attracted to the oasis in the desert as the bore springs run down the centre of the town which then leads to a dam that birds and wildlife treasure.
