ACREAGE ON GANYAN CREEK SPEEWAH
Rare acreage with World Heritage Ganyan Creek & 2 Dwellings.
In a busy, unruly world we all need a Retreat to come Home to.
A place to recharge and Renew ourselves.
4 Cadaga Close, Speewah is just such a place.
It is unique;
it is spell binding & all the superlatives apply.
I love the Broad, Deep & Pure stream that flows through this estate.
A meandering pathway through lush rainforest leads you to Ganyan Creek.
This creek comes from a Deep spring in the Nearby World Heritage National parks and runs right through this unique estate.
The water is as pure and clean as you could imagine.
A swimming hole of about 2 metres deep is just there, near the water pump!
In fact the water is so pristine that it is pumped directly into the water tank and is 100% drinkable & potable.
The stream bed runs through a canopy of rainforest & features rocks similar to that found at Crystal Cascades.
This same creek runs along past Cedar Park Lodge, past the massive Fig Tree, & eventually into the Barron River.
The rear boundary is on the other side of Ganyan Creek & Riparian rights apply.
This means you can pump water free of charge for personal & household use.
This estate has two dwellings.
The main house is set about 100 metres back from Ganyan creek.
It is built high and looks onto a large pond blue with water lilies, against a backdrop of rainforest trees.
Really lovely!
The second Dwelling is a very simple cottage, in need of some T.L.C. It has been rented for the last 5 years and can fetch up to $150 per week.
A curving drive feeds off Cadaga Close, sweeps past the house and into the large two car garage.
The approach to the home is via an attractive brick pathway, leading to a flight of broad wooden steps that climb up to a large front verandah.
The front entry has two broad doors, which, when open, let in ample light & are a particularly welcoming feature of the home.
Step in & you will notice the tall vaulted ceiling with varnished timber panel ceiling.
The extra height allows for air circulation & a cool home during summer.
No need to remove your shoes on entry or ban the pets to living outside.
This home is an easy living design, optimised for a relaxed tropical lifestyle.
On the left there is the bedroom & kitchen & on the right the other bedroom with ensuite.
In between there is a large open plan area adjacent to a huge recent extension that is called The Verandah.
I have been told that 30 or more guests can easily be entertained in this broad, covered space.
The home is built of vertical Tongue & Groove Cypress pine with colour bond roof
Within the main lounge area there is a feature brick fireplace.
The chimney has been artistically build by a local mason and has a floor to ceiling, stainless steel flu insert within.
In addition, the firebox has a clever arrangement that allows you to vary the amount of air drawn in by the chimney.
So at a flick of the wrist you can adjust the fire from a simmer to a roar.
This large living room is adjacent to a covered Verandah area that is used as the main living area or second lounge.
This area is BIG & measures 13 metres long by about 8 metres wide.
Here is another place for family & guests to gather.
A group of thirty people is easily catered for.
Standing here in the large covered verandah, I can see that should you wish for more bedrooms it would be a simple matter to add them.
I like how the kitchen opens onto this lounge via a broad servery window.
Step into the kitchen & you will notice the polished hardwood benches and plenty of storage.
This kitchen has been designed from the start to be within two paces from all of the ???essentials,??? meaning, the pantry, oven, workbench & sink.
The casement windows over the sink allow in ample light.
New Delongi gas cooker, Whirlpool electric oven & Simpson Dishwasher have recently been installed.
Adjacent to the kitchen there is a large bedroom currently being used as an office.
I like how you can enter this bedroom from the front verandah or the lounge area.
The master bedroom is located adjacent to the large verandah and has a spacious ensuite.
Walk thorough this house again and you keep coming back to the huge rear covered verandah.
From here you can see the large pond covered in water lilies.
The park like grounds are regularly visited by tame & friendly wallabies, Kookaburras, birds and butterflies.
A variety of tall trees keep the grounds cool and shaded.
Flowering shrubbery are everywhere!
In a discrete part of the estate , there is the two bedroom granny flat sited amongst the rainforest and near Ganyan Creek.
The current tenant has been her for several years and is sorry to leave!
This home has an easy living design.
Designed by Tony Driscoll & built by Carl Neil.
Many years of loving restoration & additions have
