Originally Sinnamon Park was part of Seventeen Mile Rocks, but was given its own identity as a suburb in 1989. It was named after the family of James Sinnamon (1824-1869) and Margaret (nee Mathers) (1821 – 1904) who were pioneer European settlers in the area.
Sinnamon Park touches the Brisbane River at one end where riverfront living in the prestigious Windermere estate features predominantly large beautiful contemporary homes, and borders the Centenary Highway and the neighbouring suburb of Seventeen Mile Rocks. Within the Windermere estate are two fully fenced areas specifically for dog exercise, giving residents and their pets the chance to take walks and get daily exercise.
Recently refurbished and expanded, the Mount Ommaney shopping centre and library are within easy reach of Sinnamon Park, as is the fabulous Rocks Riverside Park, a dedicated fun filled park with its amazing spider web climbing frame and water features. Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, just a few kilometres away, is the largest shopping centre in the western suburbs of Brisbane. The centre has a strong fashion focus and has the only Myer in the region. The Jindalee DFO at Amazons Place adjoins Sinnamon Park and is a handy meeting place for friends and family.
