From the street the property presents beautifully, with an easy maintenance myriad of native plants and trees, including a number of bottlebrushes attracting the Lorikeets and other Fauna. This border of greenery almost hides the home, giving real privacy in an already quiet area.
A path leads through the timber rail fence to a covered veranda that protects the house on all four sides adding to the colonial style feeling, and a classical stained glass front door, protected by a crimsafe screen.
Through the front door we find ourselves in an expansive reception hall with genteel slate tiles welcoming guests.
The first thing we notice is the light and airy ambience that stretches through the house. The cathedral ceilings have been clad with a light timber that seems to increase the height, and the lack of carpets anywhere both add to the cool clean environment.
To the left is the large tiled formal lounge, the essence of hospitality, and air conditioned with a full width open fireplace, cooling fan, downlights and venetians blinds to add to the feeling of sophistication, and allowing for comfortable entertaining no matter what the weather. From the lounge, a large hatch leads into the gourmet kitchen.
We progress through an arch into the formal dining room, unusually large and fully tiled with downlights and venetians. The dining room has immediate access to the kitchen, allowing the host to serve guests while remaining a part of the group.
We move into the large open plan kitchen / meals area. The kitchen is a joy with a 5 burner LPG gas stove. This is protected by a super large NEFF extractor to eradicate any unwelcome odors. Complimenting this is an AEG wall oven, extra large microwave and a Bosch dishwasher.
There is a stone benchtop and masses of cupboards, including a large built in pantry. This is truly a gourmet kitchen, a hosts delight.
Next to this, of course, is a family meals area with a large sliding glass door leading out to the undercover entertainment/BBQ area.
From here we move into the accommodation wing. As one would expect from a home of this quality, the whole accommodation wing is outstanding. Fully tiled, each of the doors in this area has a stained glass transom Window above it to allow additional light into the room, reminiscent of the style 100 years ago, and adding a classical touch to the whole area.
In this wing there are four large bedrooms, each with timber look flooring and a double built in wardrobe. The master suite has a triple built in wardrobe and an ensuite with a double sized glass shower, toilet, vanity and a ceiling heater/extractor.
The area is serviced by a main bathroom with a glass shower, bath and vanity, with a separate toilet next door for your convenience.
Next to this is a large laundry area with an external door to the undercover veranda and drying area.
At the end of the accommodation wing is a truly enormous rumpus room which stretches the whole width of the house, with an external access door at one end. This area is already air conditioned with a double built in wardrobe and would lend itself to almost any use, including an office, granny flat, teenage retreat or, as it is being used now, a fantastic model railway.
The outside gardens of this home are as impressive as the inside, with 3600 covered verandas expanding to a 4m x 9m undercover BBQ and entertaining area. At one end of the house is a massive formal garden with manicured lawns and surrounded by shrubs and trees. To one side of the garden is a large 35,000l, free form, salt water pool, with a cover. There is a garden shed hidden away at the rear, ideal for storing those essential implements.
At the other end of the house is a double remote garage with a full width workshop, 2.5m wide and ideal for the keen engineer or mechanic.
The house has a colourbond roof, which was completely replaced only 6 years ago. On this are 17 panels giving 4.2Kw of free solar power. Additionally there is a solar hot water system and two water tanks, one driven by a gravity feed and the other with an electric pump to assist with gardening during dry periods. This all helps to move this home toward ecological independence.
As mentioned, the home is conveniently located only a walk or a short drive to the Logan Hyperdome, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, cinema's and of course the large Logan Bus Interchange, offering services all over Brisbane.
A number of schools are close by including Shailer Park Primary and High, John Paul College and St Mathews primary and Chisholm College.
For the sports minded, there are four golf courses within a few minutes, a sports centre and any number of playing fields and sports clubs.
Shailer Park is only minutes from access to the M1 and Ipswich motorways putting the CBD, Gold Coast, western suburbs and even Brisbane airport less than hours travel.
For the kids, Dreamworld, Wet n Wild and Movieworld are also just a 20 minutes drive down the freeway - so why not buy an annual pass
