Last Listing description (September 2021)

"Copper House" is a prize home built 10 years ago and is an iconic piece of real estate at Point Lookout.

This home won the 2012 Master Builders Award - Brisbane - Best Individual Home $2million to $3million build.

This home was designed by Donovan Hill with Michael Hogg as Project Architect.

The site contains a number of individually accessible spaces under two roofs, that can be used in a number of ways to suit the number of occupants and length of stay.
A central landscape, which is largely covered, acts to link the individual buildings, while providing shaded outdoor space to retreat from the beachside sunshine.
A large spanning portal roof collects the individual buildings, linked on the upper level by a bridge-like kitchen.
The portal contains a large opening to the sky, below which a new tree was planted after construction. This new tree was trained towards the sunlight, and is already almost taller than the house and will become part of the collection of existing mature trees retained on site.
Materials were chosen for their low maintenance and slowly changing appearance, marking the passing of time, such as copper and weather protected Australian hardwoods.
Openings are oriented for ocean views and optimised for cross ventilation and sun shading.

The rear house has its own entrance, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a kitchenette - perfect for house guests or extended family. Polished concrete floors in the entrance leading to polished timber floors throughout the rest of the building.

The main building again has polished concrete floors on the ground level where you have a private lounge area, a plunge pool with shower area, separate laundry with extra drinks fridge and dish drawer. The extensive timbered courtyard runs the length of the main building and the large tree filled skylight opens up this area to sunshine, light and the elements bringing the outside inside. Opposite the pool and lounge area there are two bedrooms and a full sized bathroom which then lead to the upper level.

The upper level has polished timber floors and the kitchen is crafted in the "breezeway " linking the two buildings. The kitchen completely opens via bi fold windows spanning the length of the room. You again overlook the tree reaching for the sky in the huge open skylight. The outdoor dining area links seamlessly to the kitchen and is private, north facing and open to the sea breezes. The master bedroom with ensuite is located on this level and is large and north facing. This upper level has two lounge areas - one formal and one reading room or retreat. It could also easily be converted to another bedroom with the addition of a door.

The property has ducted air conditioning and is finished to the highest standard throughout. It is also being sold fully furnished. There are ocean views from many areas of this house but its aspect and location are superb to enjoy our sub tropical climate .

It sits beautifully on a corner block at the bottom of Yarrong Road which is elevated to catch ocean views and also central and walking distance to beaches and shops.
