Leafy Mount Lofty, a residential suburb is 2.5Km North-East of Central Toowoomba and features some spectacular City and Range views. Covering approximately ten kilometres squared it has three parks covering nearly one-third of the suburb. It has rich associations with the early history of Toowoomba. Jellicoe Street hosts The University of Queensland's external studies campus and the Toowoomba High School, Mount Lofty campus which was built there is 1960. The suburb has a real and believable character. Many older people have lived there most of their lives and there is a quiet understanding that neighbours keep a look out for each other. Architecture in Mount Lofty ranges from turn of the century houses and cottages through to contemporary homes. Mount Lofty is a lovely treed suburb which has easy access to some of Toowoomba's popular schools both public and private. The suburb is popular for its quiet park-like setting on the Eastern escarpment enjoying the best of Toowoomba views.
