Millaa Millaa is 821 meters above sea level on the Palmerston Highway, 59km inland from Innisfail, Nth Qld, in the Cairns Highlands. It is the Eastern access point for the 130km network of walks that form the Misty Mountain Trails, Millaa Millaa is an attractive settlement with a wide and uncluttered Main street, brightened by a vivid display of flowering trees and bushes. The hills around the town are dotted by black And white Friesian cows (Dairy country), lots of green gardens, waterfalls and rainforest.
Millaa Millaa is the Southern Gateway to the Atherton Tablelands. It has a wealth of wildlife composed of interesting species of flowering trees, bushes, birds and many other land and water animal including possums water dragons and frogs.
There are more than 13 waterfalls within a short drive from Millaa Millaa, most of them accessible by conventional vehicles and feature picnic facilities with parking areas. All of these Waterfalls are spectacular in their own unique way and most are surrounded by the peaceful serenity of the rainforest.
Five minutes West of Millaa Millaa, on the McHugh rd is the Millaa Millaa (Gentle Annie) Lookout, it is possibly the most popular lookout on the Atherton Tablelands. You can photograph 180 degree views from the north west to the south east including the distant coastal areas of Innisfail and the volcanic peaks scattered across the Tableland, as well as Mt Bartle Frere, the highest mountain in Qld.
