This 104.6ha (258 acre) cane farm in the Inkerman mill Area of the Burdekin is on the market and is an opportunity to be a silent partner in the Queensland Sugar industry. The farm is currently leased to a neighboring grower for a further 3 years with a return calculated on a percentage of the gross income for the cane crop harvested. At the end of the lease the owner can either re lease for a further term or take over the operation of the farm. On the final year the lessee will plant the fallow area and the owner will take over the ratoons as the crop is harvested.
The farm is fully irrigated with a Sunwater allocation of 8 mega liters per Ha from the Burdekin River Irrigation Scheme. Water is gravity fed to spaced outlets in the underground poly pipeline on the farm and distributed through plastic fluming to the paddock. The Gravity fed system eliminates the need for expensive pumping costs. The whole farm water run off is also collected into a large Recycle Pit and re pumped back into the system by a 6" electric centrifugal pump.
The farm set up is ideal with long rows and laser levelled draining paddocks with spacious headlands. The Cane Crop is harvested by a local harvesting group and delivered to the mill delivery point on Kirknie Road.
