The land was originally part of the historic Patrick Mayne Estate, which became the Windsor Road Estate, Red Hill. The Windsor Road Estate was "for sale on ground on Saturday 28th June 1924 at 2.30pm". At this time Crescent Road was named "One Chain Road". The block was purchased by Mr Thomas Aitchison Kilpatrick who built and named the home "Prairie" circa 1926.
