'Important! The photos are a blend of original photos circa 1905 along with current photos.
'Warham' - A historic masterpiece of architectural genius! An opportunity to restore this magical and unique home to its former magnificence. Structurally sound with double walls throughout the iconic home rest son 1704 square metres. Whilst time has weather-worn the glorious faade, a loving restoration would reward tenfold.
Originally, the sunflower design on the balustrade was handpainted to define the pattern. The home has a plethora of features including deep wrought iron balustrade, cedar joinery including front entry with leadlight sidelights, two fireplaces, deep moulded cornicing and skirting boards.

The originality preserved is a true highlight. The aerial photo reveals the massive proportions of the property including six bedrooms, three bathrooms, large kitchen with working fireplace and massive central room with 35ft skylight, which was originally built to hold service.

HISTORY OF 'WARHAMnThe name 'Warham' may have originated from the town 'Wareham', Dorset, England, home of ancestors of the Cribb brothers, Robert and Benjamin, who came to Moreton Bay on John Dunmore Lang's ships the Fortitude and Chasely respectively. An alternative suggestion is that it was named after Rev Thomas Warham, a leader of the Methodist Church of Queensland, who was drowned at Sandgate in 1911.
The land on which 'Warham' stands was bought from Joseph Foote Cribb in 1901 by his sister, Clarissa Spence, eldest daughter of Benjamin Cribb (died 1874) and his second wife, Clarissa, nee Foote. Clarissa (jnr) had married the Rev Robert William Spence in 1880, but was widowed in 1885. At the time of its construction in 1901, 'Warham' was the only building on a large block of land bounded by Macalister Street on the west, with Quarry and Park Streets providing the North and South boundaries. The house passed to her nephew Harry Gordon Cribb in 1923, who moved in with his family. He placed a billiard table in the large lounge room which had previously been used for church meetings. He sold land to the east of the house, and the remainder with 'Warham' to the Parker family in 1944. More land was then sold and the house converted to three flats. It was reconverted to a house by the King family who purchased the house in 1975.
The house sits at the corner of Macalister and Quarry Streets, presently obscured by later housing on its perimeter. The roof line of this house consists of the intersection of two hipped sections, one with its long, decorated ridge perpendicular to Quarry Street, and a longer ridged section to the rear with its longer ridge running parallel to Quarry Street. This roof line is surmounted by an ornate lantern with a pyramidal roof, also of corrugated iron. The main roof is decorated with eaves brackets, and there is a stepped down, straight verandah roof which wraps around the house. The detailing on this verandah is outstanding, consisting of elaborately detailed cast iron lace work balustrading and valances. This detail extends to the central gable portico, with timber member infill and finial.
