Halifax is a quiet hamlet that is located outside Ingham which is located between Townsville and Cairns in North Queensland. It is a short drive from popular fishing spots of Lucinda and Taylors Beach. The Halifax township has shops, 2 hotels, fuel station and 2 primary schools. It is about 20 minutes drive from the Ingham township.
Ingham township is just over one hour north of Townsville and approximately three hours south of Cairns, enclosed in all the lush natural beauty that North Queensland has to offer. The region takes its name from Hinchinbrook Island, Australias largest Island National Park, lying just to the north east of Ingham proper. We are at the southern gateway to the World Heritage listed, Wet Tropics and Great Barrier Reef. Waterfalls and beaches abound, including Forrest Beach and the longest sheer drop waterfall in Australia, Wallaman Falls. Recently, council has developed the Tyto Wetlands and bird-watching ecotourism precinct which includes world class viewing platforms, a new library, recording studio, art gallery and information centre.
