Visitors staying and Deep Forest Lodge have access to two world heritage listed sites, The Daintree Cape Tribulation National Park and The Great Barrier Reef. At Deep Forest Lodge they also experience the pleasure of being part of the cassowary corridor.

Deep Forest Lodge is 8.86 hectares located north of the Daintree Ferry Crossing, midway along Cape Tribulation Road at the base of Thornton's Peak (the second-highest mountain in Queensland). Due to the sensitivity of the environment, there is a ban on future developments, however, this property has a pre-existing DA (development approval), recently reaffirmed to build another 12 apartments.

The Lodge is a separate building consisting of three apartments which are located in a homestead style building. They are quality built and aesthetically pleasing. There are two studio apartments and one one-bedroom apartment. 'Deep' describes the ancient rainforest setting. The trees are majestic and the vegetation is lush.
The Residence and office are 100 metres from the Lodge. This is a timber construction and has five bedrooms, due to a large number of family members. Four bedrooms were designed pavilion style, with a view to converting them to motel rooms if required.
There is a separate building for the laundry which makes it accessible to both residents and guests. It contains 2 washing machines and a large commercial dryer.
Another building contains the power supply. The premises are supplied with alternative energy via a hydro-water turbine and solar panels as there is no mains power north of the Daintree River. A bank of batteries stores power which supplies the residence and guest accommodation. Also, there is a backup generator.
Our water source is on our property and comes directly from the mountain and is not shared. We have the best drinking water in Australia, worth bottling. This is possible because we share two boundaries with the Daintree National Park and our holding is 8.86ha.
The rainforest is described in the Daintree Future Study: 'Type 1a, Complex Mesophyll Vine Forest - This forest is the ultimate expression lowland tropical rainforest in Australia and is the most diverse terrestrial ecosystem in Australia. Only about 9000ha of this type remain inf Far North Queensland.' It's uniqueness qualified it to be World Heritage-listed.
This property is a development prospect. Income covers expenses and provides a good lifestyle. The building of additional units, converting the pavilion of four bedrooms to guest accommodation and opening a restaurant or just bed-and-breakfast facilities will substantially improve the income.
We are past our retirement age and are ready to move. This wonderful location has kept us at Deep Forest for 25 years.
