Last Listing description (January 2023)

This tightly held property has been owned by the same couple since 1994, that's 28 years of fulfilling dreams and creating memories that have featured in four generations of their family. With the changing of generations, it's now time to pass on this home and property to someone new to enjoy and create their own cherished memories.

The home is a modern Queensland farmhouse style and is set in an elevated position at the end of a long driveway out of view on 8,038m2 or 1.98 acres There is parking for 2 vehicles under the house with storage and workshop areas and an abundance of space to build a shed. Connected to town water with taps located around the grounds.

The front of the home is highset to catch the cooling summer breezes and the view of Mt Cooroora through the trees. The back of the house is low set, and it is on this side of the house where you will see Mt Pinbarren.

The home is neat and clean and move in ready. There is little to do or as much as your budget will allow. The house has a surprisingly modern open layout for its era, facilitated by the single span roof trusses, which means there are no internal load bearing walls, so your imagination and future designs have no limits.

The lounge room and dining room are separated by the centrally located kitchen, which has a large glass window and a lovely view of the exotic trees and passing birds. Both living areas have glass sliding doors that open onto the wrap around verandas, that are perfect for alfresco dining and lounging.

Gorgeous hardwood timber floors feature throughout the living areas and bedrooms. All four bedrooms have built in robes and the master bedroom has a walk-in robe and ensuite bathroom. The main bathroom has a separate shower and separate bath. The large laundry has space enough to be the "dirty store" for boots, hats and jackets and offers the convenience of a separate toilet off the laundry.

Apart from the majestic 200+ year old hoop pine at the back of the property everything else on the almost 2-acre block has been planted out with a mix of native and exotic species to ensure plenty of shelter and food for native birds, insects and animals, and an almost year-round procession of colourful flowers for the humans.

Nothing is better than being able to walk around your block and collect a feed at the same time. The property features 3 different types of mango, nut species - including several highly productive macadamia and coffee trees - and native Australian bush food species.

They often fed visitors a bushfood macadamia cheesecake made with their own bunya flour base, ground macadamia cheesecake filling and Davidson plum coulis on top.

At the back of the house, the family often enjoyed breakfast on the back platform under the hoop pine, as the sun rose over Mt Pinbarren and the magpie geese flew off for their day to Lake Macdonald.

In addition to the usual suspects in this part of the world, such as lorikeets, magpies and spangled drongos, many birds and animals call 70 Queen St home, including the more shy and elusive ones - a resident native hare, small mob of eastern grey kangaroos, forest and azure kingfishers, emerald fruit doves, rose crowned fruit doves, whip birds, yellow breasted robins, honey eaters, finches, and wrens. This is because the owners have maintained lots of dense shrubby vegetation around the house area where the birds can 'hide', but the humans can sit and watch them go about their days from the comfort of their home.
