Coopers Plains Re-development Precinct
The Coopers Plains Re-development Precinct is significantly owned by the Queensland State Government, Department of Communities and is now offered to developers for registration of interest to undertake the new construction as private sector re-development. This parcel of Government land offered for re-development has dispersed amongst it, two privately owned properties.
29 MacDevitt Street is one of two properties in a potential aggregation bounded by four street frontages, with a total land area exceeding 11,000m2, of which about 10,000m2 is currently owned by Department of Communities and this will be part and parcel to the proposed re-development. 29 MacDevitt is strategically located within this aggregation with a land area of 607m2.

The house is classified as one of the many ''Old Dutch Houses'' that were built in this locality in the early 1950's as social housing.
Re-development plans for this region of Coopers Plains have been progressed by the Department of Communities. This followed the signing of agreement with the Brisbane City Council on 1 July 2010 for the Acacia Ridge/Archerfield Neighbourhood Plan. This Neighbourhood Plan set in place the re-zoning of the land from Residential A to higher density residential and this location is now Multi Density Residential (max. dwelling height to 5 storeys), together with other guidelines.
NOTE: the Government will not be developing any additional social housing within this precinct.
