Last Listing description (November 2016)

In 2004 the current owners came across this lovely parcel of land in the Scenic Rim. It wasn t until Bill returned from his walk that he said You have got to see these views . So Helen fortunately did. Now Baralang with its lovely home and those views can be yours ..and you will be surprised how very affordable it is!
Baralang is located in the heart of the Scenic Rim at Coochin, only 90 minutes from Brisbane and under an hour to Ipswich. This is a beautiful region with incredible mountain views in all directions. Nearby to the west are the striking string of rocky knolls of the Minto Craggs which sit just in front of Mount Moon, a section of Moogerah Peaks National Park. Beyond are the distinctive Spicers Peak, Mt Huntly, Mt. Superbus and Wilsons Peak all part of World Heritage Listed Main Range National Park. To the north and less that 500 metres away is a spur of the Dugandan Range with its own unique striking escarpments.
The two nearby dams (Lake Moogerah and Lake Maroon) are havens for water sport and fishing enthusiasts. The nearby town of Boonah is the centre of a thriving farming community and really buzzes, especially with its historic pubs, sidewalk cafes, four schools, pre-school,banks, churches, numerous shops and hospital.

The 16.08 hectare or almost 40 acre property is ex dairy and cattle country. The land is predominately cleared and well grassed, the balance being natural native bush land. Pretty Flagstone Creek bisects the property (with concrete and stone bridge) and there are 2 stock dams. Approximately 6 acres are fertile creek flats which past owners cultivated for crops. The owners built the modern country style home in 2005 after instructing their architect son to design an open plan lifestyle house to be both environmentally friendly and to take full advantage of the spectacular scenery. The home was also specifically designed for easy modification or extension if ever it was required. Local recycled timbers were sourced for the tall verandah posts on the large timber ironbark deck, a beautiful feature of the home where much of the relaxing and entertaining occurs year long at Baralang. The high ceilings, metal and glass louvers and wide overhanging roof all ensures very comfortable living here. The attractive internal wide timber floorboards are polished Spotted Gum.
The extensive landscaping and gardens at Baralang require special mention. Not only do they compliment the home superbly and are full of variety and colour but importantly are easy care. The birdlife is yet another wonderful feature at this unique location within the Scenic Rim the varieties of species is endless and includes regular but amazing sightings of a pair of Wedge-tailed Eagles.
Other improvements on the property include more than adequate tank water, a 3 bay shed with storage and swimming pool.
It is for family reasons that Bill and Helen will now be selling at auction in early October. With many grandchildren in Brisbane their time will now be spent there and as a result have made clear instructions to have the property sold now.
