FIRST TO SEE MIGHT JUST BUY !!
Thats what happened last time when the current owners found this generously sized 3 bedroom 2 bathroom unique property 14 kms from Maleny at Booroobin. You will be pleasantly surprised when you discover this privately located quiet home, built to harmonize with the elements while remaining a visual pleasure and providing uncompromised living. The interior timber features are simply stunning. The use of native timbers milled on the property includes red cedar, white beech, black bean, and many more. There are 10 acres of cleared undulating pasture and 30 acres of forest with 4 wheel drive access. A permanent waterfall provides a perfect peaceful spot for relaxing. There is a drinkable bore and huge rainwater catchments area off the 3 large sheds. A must see!!!
Very realistically priced.
This property is a wonderful place to live
You will appreciate the uplifting feeling evoked by the architect as well as the insistence of the original owner/builder on quality materials. There is not a piece of mdf, melamine, or plasterboard to be found in the house. Inbuilt cupboards are all made of cedar with real timber shelves. The layout works with the sun in each season and has wonderful, northerly mountain and valley views, which can never be built out or even intruded on.
The house is approx 200 metres from the road and well screened by surrounding trees.
When passing through, Booroobin appears to have very few inhabitants. But in fact it has a friendly, cooperative community. Under the constant encouragement of a local conservationist, you can participate in Booroobin BushCare; you will then discover there is an annual Booroobin Christmas party where you can meet everybody for miles around.
Living here, you will identify with Maleny as 'your town' and hopefully support the local businesses that trade there.
Up here on the mountain it is consistently 5 degrees cooler than the Sunshine Coast in summer. There is also usually a cooling breeze.
In winter, it is not very chilly, in fact we wish it was more often so we can light the combustion heater in the living room. Theres no shortage of well seasoned firewood on the old mill scrap heap. It burns with a beautiful low smoke clear flame.
In addition to the gas stove, there is also a Stanley slow combustion stove in the kitchen. Just wonderful to use in winter, it also has a water jacket that heats the hot water tank.
Another advantage of the breezes is that mosquitoes are rarely present.
Because the doors and windows have such small gaps, other pests do not get in. We have never had a mouse in the house. And no cockroaches. No, not because of some awful pesticide, they just do not seem to live here.
There is a waterfall and babbling brook down in a valley at the north end of the property surrounded by ferns, fern trees, palms, etc. All under the canopy of majestic gums of the dry sclerophyll forest. Its an absolutely magical spot and with just a little TLC you could create the most wonderful meditation retreat there.
The air is clean in Booroobin and there are no bad smelling facilities such as pig or chicken farms anywhere nearby. Another thing to look out for in the country is smoke, particularly from neighbours wood heaters in winter. The prevailing winds usually ensure this is not a problem here and the house has good seals on windows and doors.
Noise in the country can be more of a problem than you might expect. Because the ambient noise level is so low, any introduced noise becomes quite intrusive. The most important thing is that you can relax in peace inside your home. In that respect, this house is so well insulated that you will not be disturbed by exterior noise. Outside, there are no local agricultural machinery noises and it is well enough away from the main road that any Sunday Harley Davidson country cavalcades will not bother you.
This property is ideal as a basis for self sufficient living
'The times they are achangin' as Bob Dylan sang. And whether you have been considering where to live on the basis of just somewhere to relax and grow some vegies or, more seriously, the likely future changes due to Peak Oil and Climate Change, the following information will reveal a whole other dimension to the value of this property.
