OWNERS COMMENTS

After much thinking and discussion we have decided to sell our dream home and downsize. It was a very difficult decision because of the time and effort we put in to choosing the block of land with a 50 metre river frontage and designing the unique home. Both were done to maximise the predominant breeze of the Townsville region flowing up the river.
The home was designed in the Queenslander style in conjunction with Stainton Master Builders over a period of six months and resulted in winning both a Master Builders Association and Housing Industry Association award. It has Tasmanian Oak floors throughout with 300 square metres under cover including an 80 square metre veranda facing the river; excellent for entertaining.
Time spent designing the house has resulted in a cool, light home that maximises its outstanding location. The extensive use of windows facing the river and abundance of louvers ensures plenty of light and airflow at all times.
Each of the four bedrooms has built-ins and there is extensive storage throughout the home. A 5 kW solar system is installed complete with bird proofing and the home is fully insulated with 185mm Bradford Gold Bats roof insulation. A modern security system allows arming internally and externally including cameras and video when the home is unoccupied. When at home, the system can be armed externally only, which is particularly useful for night-time security.
The home is situated in a quiet court with good privacy and easy access to the river pathway for walking and cycling. There are many schools and sporting facilities near by and Townsville University Hospital and James Cook University are also close. There is a shopping centre in the suburb and large shopping centres a small distance away.
The sights and sounds of the abundant birdlife and the antics of the many wallabies make living in this home unique for a city location. The fog in the river in winter is a joy to wake up to.
We have loved living in our dream home.
