Last Listing description (January 2021)

Nestled in its own little part of the famed Yarrowitch Valley youll find Yarrobindi Homestead, a majestic hideaway suitable for a family, weekender or a getaway retreat.

Located 54 kilometres east of Walcha and 2 hours west of Port Macquarie, on the Yarrowitch River, adjacent the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park at about 900 metres above sea level.

The Homestead

Yarrobindi Homestead is an imposing two story building with a foot print of about 275m. There are three bedrooms upstairs and bathroom and en suite, plus a large self contained unit on the ground floor.

No expense has been spared in the building of the home which is about 14 years old. In keeping with its rural setting there has been extensive use of native hardwoods throughout, with exposed beams, floorboards and timber windows. Local basalt rocks have used effectively in the paving and sidewalls of the main entrance.

A feature of the open plan, colonial style kitchen is the AGA 4-oven cooker. Home cooked catering is a a must do. This leads on to the dining area, a great spot that soaks up the sun throughout the day. The energy efficient Jetmaster open fire in the formal lounge room gets plenty of use in the winter months. Again, stonework of the fireplace adds to the charm of the home.

A fully self contained unit is located downstairs. It has a kitchenette, living area, bedroom and en suite.

In addition to the three bedrooms upstairs, there is a large library room and another secret room accessed via the main bedroom. This room makes creative use of the void above the garage. Because of the pitch of the roof, there is plenty of storage space upstairs in addition to the built in cupboards and walk in wardrobes. Windows from every room look out across the property and beyond.

Out and About

The homestead sits in established gardens; fairly low key but adding to the privacy of the home with mostly deciduous trees and green lawns. A swimming pool sits to the side of the house.

The original cottage is within walking distance and has two bedrooms. This building is partly renovated will make for rustic but comfortable lodging.

There are four main sheds and a number of smaller garden sheds. The original Yarrobindi woolshed plus a relocated crutching shed are both on-site. This is in addition to a large machinery shed and a machinery / fodder shed near the timber cattle yards. This infrastructure is a reminder that these 20 hectares where once an integral part to the neighbouring 2,000 hectare grazing property. Only your imagination will hold you back for innovative uses of the sheds.

Water security is assured by about 1,200 metres of frontage to the Yarrowitch River, which plummets over the Yarrowitch Falls just 800 metres from the homestead, in the Park (photos of the gorge and waterfalls on this page are taken from within the National Park).

The soils are undulating fertile trap and basalt. Domestic animals of your liking will be completely at home on Yarrobindi Homestead. Currently there are sheep, cattle, horses and even a llama enjoying the property.

The relative isolation of Yarrobindi Homestead will appeal to those seeking solitude in a rural setting. The infrastructure gives opportunity to any number of enterprises. The homestead itself is majestic, fitting for the setting.
