* Woodenbong is a peaceful community, located close to the NSW/QLD border, which was officially declared a village in 1908. It is situated in the shadow of Mt Lindesay, and is surrounded by the spectacular natural scenery of the Border Ranges and rural location. The name Woodenbong originates from the language of the local Githebal Aboriginal people meaning ''ducks on a lagoon'', and the aforementioned lagoon itself is located just outside of the village. Woodenbong has always had a strong sense of community and pride due to its rich natural and cultural history, and its residents actively support the local businesses that include a hotel, garage, supermarket, Mitre 10, medical office, swimming pool, sporting facilities and banking facilities.
