Last Listing description (May 2011)

''Goddard Cottage'n''Goddard Cottage'' is the oldest existing home in the Uralla Township. Built in 1860, it was bought in 1881 by Henry Sheldon Goddard, an iron worker who came to town to install the machinery at McCrossin's Mill. By the 1990's the home had been through a lot and was in danger of being lost, however in 1998 it was dismantled and carefully rebuilt this, time a little further back from the street and on piers. A 1880s shearer's quarters has been relocated and attached to the side of the original cottage, to provide more space, but also to remain consistent with the style and vintage of the rest of the home.
Despite the history, the home has well and truly been brought up to modern standards, and features three bedrooms, a kitchen with gas stove, and an internal bathroom. Heating is provided by a wood burner in the original fireplace. The lounge room is a great size, but retains a cosy feel in line with the rest of the home.
The home is only a short walk to the cafes, pubs, restaurants and supermarket of Uralla's town centre. The block is a good size at approximately 1030m2 and features extensive English cottage gardens and veggie patches.
