We moved to Merriwa with a five year plan This business allowed us to be present in the lives of our children and also allowed us to be active participants in the growth of our new community This decision to move was one we never regretted, and even though we decided it was for a short time, we have now been here for thirty-two years. During our time here we have become part of a community that welcomed our presence and we have seen many changes over the years. We are proud to belong to a place that celebrates its history and strives to improve its present with an eye for the future.

Over the last three decades, our business has evolved from the traditional newsagency, selling newspapers, magazines and stationery; into the newsXpress store we have today, with access to high quality giftware, children's products, jewellery and fashion accessories, and card ranges. We still have the traditional elements of a newsagency, but with a much more diverse range of stock that is always positively received by our local customer base as well as tourists who stop for a visit. We are also a Tatts Lotto agent.
As technology has advanced, we have made sure that we are keeping up with the changes to running a business in a world that is increasingly online. We have also invested in solar power and have reaped the benefits of all it has to offer.

The business has an attached, open plan, three bedroom, 2 bathroom home with landscaped gardens as well as a garage and sheds.

Merriwa is a community that is perfectly positioned for small business. It is a convenient stopping place for those who are travelling as it is two hours from Newcastle, Dubbo and Tamworth. It enjoys all the benefits of a rural community surrounded by farmland as well as being on the edge of the wine district and close to National Parks. It is a fantastic place to raise children, with access to three primary schools and five high schools, and options to play many sports.
Thirty-two years after moving to Merriwa, our children are now adults, living their own lives and starting their own families. We have decided to leave in order to be closer to them and enjoy all the benefits of being grandparents.
