Last Listing description (May 2022)

We offer for sale this beautiful 1930's art deco style home. It has strong bones and many extraordinary features. Art deco is a design style from the 1920's that is described as elegant, glamourous and functional - a true reflection of this property with its 11' ceilings and ornate trappings. I don't often get too excited about the style of a house but this one is so exquisitely unique that I was overwhelmed with what it had to offer. Many of the original features have been retained adding to the value of this property.
Sited on a double block, the home is all original. Set among beautiful easy care bordered gardens it features the original Cypress pine and the exclusive "Jerilderie Red" Kurrajong tree included in the mostly native and fern plantings. The gardens at the back of the property have a lush forest feel and beckon you to come on an adventure to see what else is hidden away.and there is plenty!!
A relatively new addition is the three car lock up garage with two remote doors and workshop at the rear which has 3 phase power. 20 solar panels on the roof help to keep the energy bills down. Not letting the history of the property dissolve, the old small stables are still here beside the shed. The driveway is neat and has been covered with fine granite rock. Alongside of this is room for the caravan. To the side of the shed the block is fenced to keep the inground pool guarded.

The structure of the home is weatherboard of approx. 22sqs under roof line and features shingles adding to the aesthetical appeal and authenticity of the era when the house was first erected. The two veranda's have turned pillar and brick posts, the small north facing front veranda has pressed tin ceiling and the fantastic old doorbell. Lighting the magnificent main entrance is the initial English inspired lamp post. The galvanised iron roof has been updated in its almost 90 year history and is in good condition.
Original Tudor style diamond windows open out to let the breeze through. All of the doors are typically glass bevelled French doors with Cedar embellishments fitting of the era. This style carries through to the rest of the building.
As you are drawn into the house there is the reception area featuring exquisite turned pillars underneath the moulded arch way. Magnificent art deco ceiling mouldings and decorative cornice add to the charm.
The house itself has two large bedrooms at the front both with ceiling fans. The main has a window box with built in dresser, two quaint authentic built in robes and plate railing throughout. The second bedroom has modern built in robes and features two lovely French glass doors. The formal dining room is magnificent, again cedar lined and with wide, decorative plate rail and the most amazing cedar door frame.it really is breathtaking. Built in Tudor cabinets are fitted in here and in the adjacent formal lounge with large box seat window, split system air conditioner, built in bookcase and wood heater. The original fireplace has been retained but isn't used. Pull across curtains separating the lounge from the reception room are authentic and still in excellent condition. The refrigerated split system is centrally located for maximum benefit although with the high ceilings the home is comfortable all seasons.
A modern kitchen has replaced what was a modest room although the bricked stove nook and marble hearth have been retained. Other modern features are the dishwasher and island bench and the mini orb ceiling. The beautiful Murray Pine floor boards have been restored in this room and are throughout the house hidden under the carpet. A servery window opens onto the family room at the rear. The family room is an addition to the existing building and has high raked pine cathedral ceilings with Oregon beams, split system air conditioner and leads out onto the entertaining area.
The bathroom is also central and has a half sunken bath, shower, vanity and toilet. The laundry, although outside is undercover for easy access and has a second toilet.
A large two bedroom detached unit is close by and has a bathroom and toilet - a fantastic area for visitors or the grandies. It more than compensates for the fact that house has only two bedrooms. It has the potential to build in a kitchenette and could be leased out if desired.
Just off this is an under covered all seasons entertainment area with the garden being planted out by large lush ferns. The kidney shaped, fully fenced, 6.4m x 3.9m saltwater and solar heated inground pool lies beyond this and has a large covered pump shed with extra storage.
There is rear lane access but the current owners only have a small gate for access as the block is so large at the front. There is however a swing gate next to the shed should you need to gain entry to the enclosed part of the yard.
THERE'S MUCH MORE TO THIS PROPERTY! ASKING $435,000
