Last Listing description (September 2012)

It???s a particular holding; 40 hectares in the Higher Macdonald.
This is something different! I will deal with the hard part first. You need to ford the Macdonald River to get to the land and then again to get to the second portion. You???ll need a 4 x 4 vehicle and there will be times when the river is up and that won???t do you any good anyway.
OK, now for the best and fun part! Once there, this land takes in both sides of the valley and as indicated, the river runs through it. If you are not familiar with it, the Macdonald can be dry, run at a trickle, or from time to time it is a torrent. This is all good because it has a way of keeping this area slightly remote from the impact of civilization and as a result, this is a fairly pristine environment where flora and fauna flourish. There are cattle grazing in the area but their impact is minimal.

For the most part, this holding is unspoiled bushland rising to rocky escarpments but there are areas of lightly timbered bushland too, and in the valley floor, besides there river, there are some areas of grassland, some of which may be termed ???wetlands??? from time to time, but plenty of land for lifestyle pursuits as well as flood-free building sites. There is no power here by the way, but there are some really good solar set-ups available now. NO mobile reception here???so that???s another good thing.
A bit of information for you about distance:- It is about 24 kilometres from here to the Settlers Arms at St Albans (that???s a good thing too) and I reckon from the CBD you could do this in two hours most of the time.
I could go on with description, but better to see the photos then come and see for your-self. Be kind and give me a little bit of notice and I will meet you and take you up there.
