SOIL TYPE:
Well-balanced, mainly flat, chocolate silt loam with some sandy loam towards the southern boundary.

PASTURES:
Mixture of Rhodes grass and Setaria topped up with annual ryegrass direct drilled over 70% of the farm. Legumes including Haifa clover and Fescue have been included into the pastures.

FERTILISER

The property has had has a very consistent and reliable fertilising program. This has included the application of Superphosphate at a rate of 250kg/ha along with Urea at an application rate of 100kg/ha.

STOCK:

Traditionally the owners have milked 70-100 dairy cows. Milk production figures available upon request but last year, based on 90 cows, 2500 litres of milk was produced and picked up every second day. Totalling approximately 450,000litres of milk per annum.

In relation to the dairy herd there are currently 90 cows, 25 replacement heifers, 20 unjoined heifers and a number of calves.

If conducting a beef grazing operation the estimated carrying capacity is between 90 - 95 breeders plus replacements.

As stated cropping has also been conducted on Shannonvale with approximately 70-80% of the property cultivated.
