Last Listing description (January 2020)

Yarramie Cottage (formerly Rocky Cabin) is a part-restored 1920's stone cottage. It is a unique and interesting little gem, with metre thick walls to keep you cool in the summer, and a sun deck (in need of replacing) with district outlook across the tree studded Mackerel Beach valley.

This part of Pittwater is still largely undiscovered; privacy is the key word to describe this hideaway. And the white sands of Mackerel Beach are only a 5-10 minutes walk from the front door.

This old property has been part-renovated to preserve the best of local architecture by local architect Stephen Lesuik. The hardwood timber kitchen surfaces are surrounded by thick, locally milled sandstone walls.

This is the perfect escape for a couple looking for a getaway offering gorgeous nearby beaches, unlimited trail walking, wildlife viewing, and beautiful sandy coves on Pittwater. But maintenance work on the house is required.

Mackerel Beach is a small peaceful community opposite Palm Beach. Access is by ferry on the hour during the day, private boat or water taxi at other times. There are no shops or other outlets, it truly feels a world away, despite being easy to reach and access. There is electricity, phone reception and internet at Mackerel Beach. Water is sourced via tanks on-site and waste is collected in a septic system.
