Charlestown is a suburb located on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie, situated about half way between Whitebridge to the east and Hillsborough to the west. There are four primary schools, one catholic and three public. The local shopping precinct 'Charlestown Square' is a major shopping centre including fashion stores, major department stores, along with fresh food and grocery. Charlestown Square is also well underway with expansions and renovations. Other attractions include Charlestown pool, Hoyts cinemas, Netball courts, Library and a post office.
