Castle Hill:
Castle Hill is located approximately 30 kilometres North-West of Sydney CBD and is the main administrative site for the local government area of the Hills Shire Council.
Castle Hill was founded on the 1st of March 1802 by Governor Phillip, almost a year after he began a Government farm. The prison farm was worked by mostly Irish convicts who were exiled and deemed as Politicals for agitation against British Rule.
Transport:
Castle Hill is serviced by Hills buses which will see you to the Sydney CBD, Parramatta, Pennant Hills, Hornsby and Baulkham Hills and also by Busways which will see you to Kellyville, Glenwood, Bella Vista and Blacktown.
June 2013 saw the approval of the much talked about rapid transit rail link that will link Rouse Hill to Epping via Castle Hill, which will then connect to Chatswood. Once these have been completed, they will form the first stage of Sydney s rapid transit network. This is expected to open in the first half of 2019 and will be run by driverless trains.
Castle Towers:
Castle Towers is set to be the second largest retail shopping centre in Australia, with QIC announcing that they will be expanding by yet another 80,000 square metres. This $911 million expansion will see a grand total of 193,457 square metres.
Castle towers is home to a mix of high end boutiques, lower end retail, department and discount stores, fresh food and grocery stores and an array of cafes and restaurants.
Did you know?
Noble Laureate Patrick White, who lived at 74 Showground Rd between the post war period and 1968, used Castle Hill as a basis of his settings to many of his well-known stories including; Riders in the Chariot, The Tree of Man and also the play The Season at Sarsaparilla. It is also known that some of his characters were based on experiences he had with people in the area at that time.
