Mugwee Property Utilisation
Mugwee has, over many years, supported at different times, a prime lamb enterprise, a cattle breeding enterprise and a dry cattle enterprise. The country is suited to any of these grazing enterprises but would readily adapt to a stud property (horses, cattle or sheep). It is suggested that Mugwee would support a herd of 150 cows plus followers or their equivalent.
Mugwee Land Description
Mugwee has a good balance of undulating country with a south, south-westerly aspect and areas of lower hill. Soils are in the main decomposed granite with some granite outcrop and loam areas.
The property has been carefully managed over many years with shade trees and environmentally sensitive, timbered areas retained. A most attractive, parklike appearance running through to a direct freehold frontage to Lake Hume.
Mugwee History
Mugwee as it presents today is the last area of the original Mugwee Station. The original Mugwee Station was an iconic Albury District property over the greater part of the 20th Century. Owned over the years by the Hore family, the original property was bounded by the then Upper Murray Road, now Olympic Road, and the upper reaches of the then Hume Weir. The increase in size of the Hume Weir, currently known as Lake Hume , caused much of the original property to be flooded and, as a consequence, reduced in size. Family succession planning saw Mugwee Station divide into three individual properties in the late 20th Century, one of which was in the ownership of Mr. Tony Hore who, after some subdivision developed and created the Mugwee as is offered today. Mugwee as it stands today has had only two family ownerships in 100 years, one being the Hore family and the other, the property s current owners, Mr. & Mrs. Wyseman. Mugwee Station, when run as a whole, was essentially a major wool growing property of the Albury district, but over time and changes of management is now recognised as prime cattle breeding country or prime lamb production property.
