Located just 4 km from Blayney, Sallydale is an established certified (ACO) organic heritage apple farm producing fresh produce for the local community and beyond.
Sallydale cottage was originally built in C. 1840s and was one of the first homes in the area. It has been renovated by the current owner maintaining the old-world charm of the era, featuring thick pise walls, timber floors, slow combustion wood fire, 2 bedrooms, wrap-around verandah, town water connection, fully equipped bore for orchard irrigation and stock water and underground power.
The trees were planted approximately 30 years ago and there are 32 different varieties, with a mix of
cooking and dessert types there is a full plan available of the varieties grown in each orchard block.
The orchard can be irrigated from the bore if required. The fresh apples have traditionally been sold at
farmers markets in Blayney, Orange and Bathurst in the Central West and various Sydney fresh food
markets.
Other Apple products that have been produced and sold include apple juice, apple jam, apple jelly dried apple chips and the "Cheeky Fox" apple cider vinegar.
Other fruit trees include cherries, plums, pears and nut trees (walnut and hazelnut). Honey is also produced on the property.
There is an apple processing shed, storage shed and cool room on the property. All the apple processing
equipment such as grinders, crushes and cider press are included in the sale. A full list of inclusions is available.
There is also a 6.6kW solar panel system and inverter attached to the shed. Also included is a barn-style shed containing 2x steel and timber horse stable bays, loft area and undercover area for storage of the tractor and various plant & equipment items.
Major plant and machinery items included in the sale are a tractor and slasher, silvan spray unit, fertiliser spreader, plough and harrows.
Sallydale has also been developed for livestock production including cattle, sheep and horses. There are
cattle/horse yards, separate sheep yards and horse round yard with rubber belting. The property has been
fenced in a design with laneways that makes getting livestock to the yards an easy process. The grazing paddocks overlook Blayney and are pasture improved with perennial ryegrass, cocksfoot, phalaris and clovers. Each paddock has its own water trough.
Currently, the property is running purebred Wiltipol ewes
and lambs. The horses have been bred along endurance bloodlines with progeny still currently being campaigned at high levels.
